I think Ada’s desire for a romantic adventure really fuels her goals for weight loss, and I also believe from a motherly aspect she finds weight loss necessary because she doesn’t want her daughters to become her. Everyone needs some type of motivation, and I can relate to that as well. 😀

Ada’s mindset is that big women were nurturing, powerful and beautiful. She desired to have a Bidmama lap for her grandchildren.
Ada takes a good look at herself, picks herself up and focuses on her. She visits her healthcare provider, spends time with Queenie and other positive and healthy ladies and even visits another church where she can be free of all responsibilities.
I think her desire for a romantic adventure was the catalyst for weight loss. The thought of romance made her more determined.

I agree with Jan on the first two but for the third in my opinion it was the romantic adventure she thought so much about.
