I started to read up on Eating Clean during January's challenge. During that time I purchased a few books that were really informative and gave recipes which helped me enjoy healthy food in a variety of ways. The books were good at informing me on what to stay away from, BUT, I would like to know substitutes. More specifically, substitutes for processed desserts.

For instance, I know to drink water rather than buy soda/processed juice, and to make my own juice if thats what I crave (i.e. by blending or juicing fruit, and making green smoothies); I know to make frozen dessert (blending frozen friut) rather than buy icecream. But I don't know what to grab to substitute the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup that I crave...so...I grab a Reese's...or a TastyKake. I thought I was on to something when they made 90 calorie snack packs, but, that's not Eating Clean, its still processed. I feel guilty because I Eat Clean for my meals, but at night when the snacker in me comes out and has a taste for a cupcake,I don't want an apple, nor a cupcake, but a substitute. Some people say that they detoxed themselves and no longer have the cravings that I am speaking of, which is great for them...but since I am not at that point, I don't know what else to do.

What makes a food "clean"? What is "clean eating"? What oils can I use that would be considered "clean" would things like butter (or other condiments) be considered "clean" if I make them at home without the addictives?
