Sheena lost 90 pounds

Today’s featured weight loss success story:  Sheena lost 90 pounds.

Sheena weight loss

Here is what Sheena had to say about her weight release journey:

“I have lost over 90lbs with 3Ds: Dedication, Determination and Discipline, and it aint over yet.  I got more work to do! In spite of opposition that I have faced through this journey, I have learned inner strength and how to take the stress of the day and let it out in my workout.

I joined a weight management center in cleveland ohio’s Fit Challenge (Weight Management Center aka The Fit Center). I learned new eating habits. I took up running. In my neighborhood, I did not see women that looked like me running. I couldnt afford running shoes (I’m a single mother). So I brought some shoes that were being discontinued, high top nikes for 29.99. I ran to the corner and I thought everyone was looking so I ran to the next corner, I got maybe 3 miles aways from home.  I thought, I gotta get home and I cant walk because then I’ll look like I punked out,. I was diligent in running.  I’ve ran up to 17 miles. I completed my first half marathon in 2hr 9mins, with my high top nike shoes . I’ve never looked back.  Nutrition is 80 percent and 20 percent is exercise. Dedicate yourself to eating living foods and you will live!”

I am also inspired… I wear a soft cast on my ankle because of torn tendons and ligaments… I can barely walk fast, far less run.. however, I have to learn to persevere and not worry about others looking at me because of my weight and height…

I know this will be very hard, but looking at your pictures and reading your words is great inspiration. I dont have money to join a gym or program, but I have to start somewhere…

Again, you are such an inspiration, thank God for you….

I have been overweight my entire life. In 6th grade I wore a D cup bra, by the age of 10 I was in womens clothes. My mom was never a big women, it didnt make sense to me why I was so big. I loved sports and I played them in high school but I was always a big girl. People would say your solid, or big boned thats why your big. It just seemed like it was my destiny to be big. I knew that something wasnt right and that I could be whatever I wanted. Which was to not be as big as everyone in the room. I have worn a 22 most of my adult years but I can wear a size 4. It is possible to lose weight without surgery, diet pills, and fads. Just DETERMINATION, DEDICATION, DISCIPLINE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY MAKE IT A LIFESTYLE

I have been on a DIEt since I was 13 years old I’ve been offered the surgery, I’ve done different programs and fads…and now my marriage is suffering… I don’t want to die like this I’ve even contacted the biggest loser… I’m tired… if you can respond I could use your help or some way I can communicate I’m in a nearby city, but I used to live in Cleveland….

first order is to change your mindset. If you don’t want to die like that than what’s stopping you. Either you are in or out. U cannot walk in the middle. how bad do you want it? Don’t say I want it and then eat a cheeseburger. But seriously ask your self how bad do u want it. Some days I am up at 230am. Have some positive self talk with yourself. See yourself as you want to be. Eating, ask yourself why are you eating what you are eating?

      Shahidah,
do you mean, did I gain and lose a bunch of times? The answer is no, I think the most I gained in a week was 4 pounds, and when I seen that I knew exactly what I was eating and I didnt eat it anymore. My goal is to not start and stop losing weight. There is more to fitness goals than losing weight. I have discovered for myself that after losing weight there are so many other fitness goals I have opened myself up too. Losing weight is only half the battle.
Seeing results, the first couple of months I didnt look in the mirror I didnt want to get off focus. I was in a size 8 and didnt know it until my friend told me my size 14 jeans were to big LOL. I didnt want to get caught up in fashion, I just wanted to strip the weight off and move on to my next goal

So…. sheena, you look great by the way. I am a single mom also and dont have a lot of help with my son, but I want to lose about 40-50 lbs. I started last week and so far so good. I dont want to join a gym because I dont have time to go, however I do workout videos at home. My question is exactly how much exercise do I need per day??? And how do I know if I’m eating the right food? Also, how long did it take you to start seeing results? (I’m very inpatient)

      Nicole,
You didnt gain the weight in one day, one month, one week. Be patience. The worse thing you could do is start some crazy fad diet. You want this to be a life change change not a “diet”. Whats the rush? Enjoy the journey, you might out somethings about yourself along the way. On my own I lost some, but once I started the program I lost almost 20 the first month. If your disciplined enough to work out at home, good. But sometimes going to a gym can help you push yourself harder. I find gyms that have free daycare so I dont have to worry about finding a babysitter. So you want to know if your eating the “right foods”. So let me ask you what are the “wrong foods”? 🙂

I love this response, you noticed change the first day because your body was irritated! I can say amen to that! Eating clean is very hard – losing weight is very hard but as soon as you start, the change starts immediately seen or unseen. I do feel rather irritated that I cant lose the last 20 and Im still struggling to put down things that have expiry dates. I will get back on it right now! Thank you for sharing your story you look AMAZING!

Clean eating is a process and it can be discouraging cause some days I have to give myself a pep talk in the mirror about what I am going to eat and about what Im not going to eat. When the self talk is over I always win 🙂

Andrea, one reason I liked running the streets is because I felt it held me accountable. Ppl can see you when you run the streets compared to running on a tread mill. Then I would pick a deagitation and go for it. When I started I was a slow runner but 3D!!!!!

your legs look GOOD! like college vollyball player good but anyway.
This is what i want u to know: Today, Saturday. Your body and how it is RIGHT NOW. your degree of cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength, your flexability, how your body looks in the mirror and feels in your hands. Today is AS GOOD AS IT WILL EVER GET FOR YOU!

(WHERE YOU ARE) Today is your (fitness) mountain peak!, if you dont do anything else. If you stop right here (quit exercising) and dont do anything else realise its all down hill from NOW. If your cool with that Kudos to you, ride that wave and congratulations! If not,,,,,, then get the job done! My own answer to this single thought (Is this as good as it gets for me?, and am I ok with that?) is what keeps me pushing the pedal!
Sheena, In your quiet time…Ask yourself the question, honestly consider your answer. Take action based on YOUR ANSWER TO YOU!
**hope this helps with your last 10

Of the last 10 I’ve already dropped 4. As far as the mountain top… I haven’t reached that pinnacle yet 🙂 now it’s more so mental and getting into that place where everything comes together. I have other fitness goals to reach. The weight loss is just the start. I ain’t did nothing yet. My best is yet to come. I guarantee you’ll hear more about me in the near future 🙂
