Thank you so much for posting this great article. Very imformative. I hope it does not go unnoticed. I am 39 yrs old (40 next month). In Dec 14 I went to the er after continuous bleeding and feeling a knot that I had ignored for almost a year. I had the mirena since Jul 13 to regulate my menstrual cycle. I workout pretty regularly (active military) and my abs were not going down. The knot I felt kept locking up and fluttering. Finally enough was enough and I went to go the er they sent me to the clinic on base since my blood work was normal. Womens health immediately ordered a ultrasound which confirmed I had a fibroid I was sent to get a MRI due go the size and my family history. I have teenage daughters and I didn't plan on having anymore children I was scheduled for a hysterectomy. After throughly reviewing my MRI I was referred downtown to an oncologist. He took my case and scheduled me with his team. The fiborid was the size of a cantaloupe and had symptoms of leiomyosarcoma 1 and a million patients will get this cancer. And it can ony be dectected during surgery and tested. During my surgery they didnt see the cancer after further testing of the fibord showed cancer. Thankfully they were able go remove it unfortunately I still have to have 6 cycles chemotherapy. Today is day one of chemo. Dont take anything for granted. Please get checked out.
