Transformation of the Day: Meaghan lost 34 pounds in 3 months. At 5’2″ and 290 pounds, she had a number of health issues and low self confidence. The passing of a family member due to heart attack was also a serious motivating factor. Check out how she released the weight.
My journey began in 2014. I was one year out of undergrad, but I was at the HEAVIEST WEIGHT OF MY LIFE! I was only 21 years old, 5’2″ tall and had the health issues of an older, obese woman. At the time, I weighed close to 290 pounds! Something had to change!
My motivation was my Uncle Doug who passed away in 2014. He was a police officer and died of a heart attack due to not taking care of himself. Also, my self-confidence and esteem was at an all time lowest! I decided to stop the cycle of obesity in my blood line and take charge!
I cut out the junk food I was eating and started eating REAL FOOD instead! 12 weeks ago, I entered into the IUTBU bootcamp contest hosted by Wiltrina Jones. All the participants were provided meal plans and daily support! I changed my eating habits by eating 5 to 6 meals a day. The meals were well balanced meals and not at all your stereotypical “diet food”. I have fallen in love with running and the gym! I workout for 2 hours, 3 times a week, and I have active rest days.
I started this contest at 259.8 pounds and now weigh 224.4 pounds! It has taken me on and off over the course of 2 years to finally get serious about this lifestyle change, but it only took 3 months to lose 35.4 lbs! I still have a long ways to go, but nothing can stop me now or hold me back!
I give thanks to Coach Wiltrina and Weight Loss Support Groups, such as Black Women Losing Weight, for continuous motivation and support I’m fighting the good fight and becoming the healthiest version of me!
My advice to fellow queens and kings who are on a weight loss journey: Don’t stop fighting the good fight! We are all a family and we have to support one another! Don’t give up, keep pushing!
