Transformation of the Day: Kanita lost 46 pounds. Her turning point was having a heart attack at the age of 36. She followed doctor’s orders to eat healthier and began working out regularly. Check out how she changed her life.
What was your motivation?
I was motivated to lose weight because in May of 2016 at the age of 36 I had a heart attack (an ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction). The doctors advised me that since I have heart disease at such a young age I need to live a healthier life and incorporate better eating habits. Seeing the results in the mirror and feeling healthier is what keeps me going.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by cutting out sweets, unhealthy carbs and fast foods. I try to eat as clean as I can and drink plenty of water each day.
What did your workout routine look like?
I workout 5-6 days a week. In the beginning, I was only doing cardio, but for the past 4 months I’ve started to incorporate strength training.
Starting weight/Current weight
When I started my healthier lifestyle change, I weighed 196 pounds. Today, I weigh 150 pounds. I’m 5’2.
How long did your transformation take?
The picture attached on the left shows me weighing 196 pounds back in May of 2016. The picture on the right shows me weighing 150 pounds in April 2017.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned on this journey?
I am not on a diet. This is a complete lifestyle change for me. It’s hard work, but the reward of living a healthy life is worth it.
