Transformation of the Day: Mecca lost 70 pounds in six months. She was tired of tired of feeling sluggish and lacking confidence. Her journey was not easy, but this Agriculture major belived in herself and found the strength to commit to a new lifestyle. Check out how she did it.
Within six months I was able to lose 70 pounds. I wore a size 20. Now, I wear a size 16 and a size XL in shirts. Although it was hard and my faith was tried, I found the strength within to move forward. I wanted to do better for myself, and I wanted to be an encouragement to my family. I am an Agriculture major and I believe that eating healthy is the best way to feel good, physically and mentally. I’m dedicating my new journey to uplifting others who struggle to master their weight.
What was your motivation?
My motivation to lose weight was simple: I was tired of feeling sluggish and not feeling confident in myself. I have a younger sister who inspires me to be fearless, to keep going and to believe in my dreams. I know she looks up to me and I want to influence her in a positive way.
How did you change your eating habits?
The first step in changing my diet was changing my mental perspective around food, and regarding what I thought were healthy foods and unhealthy foods . I took sodas, juice, bread and every harsh carb out of my diet. I also didn’t eat after 6:30 pm. I ate healthy food, like salads, chicken and fish.To jumpstart my weight loss efforts, I did a 7 day cleanse, which consisted of drinking Premier shakes and water. I lost 8 pounds within that week.
What did your workout routine look like?
I didn’t workout during the first 3 1/2 months of my journey and I lost 40 pounds. During the next three months, I switched my routine and worked out about three times a week. I lost 30 more pounds.
When did you start your journey?
I started this journey in November 2016 and I will continue my journey. I hope to lose 30 more pounds by August 2017.
What advice would you share with other people who want to lose weight?
If anyone is having difficulties losing weight. doing a short fast or committing to making solid changes to your diet will definitely jump start your weight loss.
