I always find the best recipes for green smoothies and regular smoothies on Pinterest. It is such a great sharing site for recipes, health tips, workout routines…you name it. Below is a graphic I found on Pinterest of an awesome set of 3 smoothies you can drink over the course of 3 days to give your body a break from the chemicals and preservatives found is most foods. Here is the original post on the Dr. Oz Show website. I remember posting on Facebook about this detox when it first came out, because I was so happy Dr. Oz was endorsing smoothies as a detox method.
What is a detox: When we detox, we are taking the burden off of the organs in our body that are the cleansing organs. Things to avoid: hard to digest food, dairy, processed sugar, highly processed foods. alcohol, and caffeine. We are able to improve our cleansing organs’ ability to do the regular detoxing for us that they normally do, but are hindered due to our food choices. The colon, stomach, liver and kidneys are the main organs I’m talking about. With a detox, you can give these organs a break. When I detox, I focus on eating nutritious foods, rest and loving myself. It’s not just about the food. Since I’m not having to think a lot about my meals, I have more time to reflect and think.
