Transformation of the Day: Erica lost 122 pounds. This Oncology RN experienced significant weight gain after going thru a dark season in her life. Although she experienced ups and downs as she figured out the right mix of healthy eating habits and exercise, she didn’t give up on herself.
What was your motivation?
After going through a very dark season in my life, I gained so much weight. I lost myself and found myself weighing 298 pounds. I remember literally busting out of my scrubs and crying. I knew I had to change.
When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started my weight loss journey in June 2018. I started doing the Keto diet and exercising 4-5 times a week. I have not turned back since. I’ve managed to lose over 120 pounds.
My journey to get here has been a roller coaster ride of trials, many errors, and a collection of small milestones along the way, eventually leading to more than I ever expected to gain. I feel better than ever before with more energy and vibrancy.
Since overcoming obesity, I now feel reborn, and I am empowered around my own weight loss. I have gained greater strength and fitness. I feel stronger and healthier, and I know that I am in charge of my own body and my well-being.
Did you count carbs/calories when you started the Keto diet?
I started counting my macros on My Fitness Pal. I stayed under 20g carbs, 50g fats, and 30g protein per day.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I did weight lifting. I added cardio the second year, and I began to run 5ks.
What is your current weight?
I currently weigh 176 pounds.
What is your height?
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is consistency is key. That means staying consistent even when you don’t see the results you want or that you think you should see.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice to women is to learn to love yourself through every stage of the process. Self-love is the key that unlocks your inner strength to keep going and growing.

M O T I V A T I O N 🤍 M O N D A Y …I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well – Psalms 139:14 • Overweight. Insecure. Low-self esteem. These words describe how I viewed myself for many years. My weight fluctuated up and down, I was engaging in unhealthy eating and lacked exercise. • June 2018 is when you can say I reached my breaking point. I was so tired of being unhappy and unhealthy. I just wanted to be happy and confident in my own skin. And I knew that in order to be healed, I needed to run to the Healer, the Comforter…Jesus Christ. I’m so happy that He met me right where I was at. He directed me to Psalm 139:14. • I made peace with my body. I decided that I was going to learn how to love it and take care of it the best way I could. I started to think differently towards everything from my diet to exercise. Here I am 2 years later, happier and more proud of myself than I ever was before– not because I was smaller, but because I finally learned how to love myself.
