Transformation of the Day: Quila lost 77 pounds. She transformed despite dealing with a number of ailments, including two autoimmune diseases, high blood pressure, Fibromyalgia, Endometriosis, and IBS. Her equation for success is Nutrition 80%, Exercise 20%, and 100% Prayer.
I started my natural weight loss journey about ten months ago! I have only been doing intermittent fasting since October 2019, but I stay in a calorie deficit or count my calories. I got this far by renewing my mind in God. Nutrition 80%, Exercise 20%, and 100% Prayer. I’ve been beating all odds in the name of Jesus! By his stripes, I am healed.
What was your motivation?
At the age of 25, I was diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases, Lupus and Sjogren’s syndrome. I also was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Endometriosis, Ovarian Cyst Syndrome, Sciatica, Neuropathy, Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue, Sclerosis, Scoliosis, IBS, etc. (I don’t suffer from High Blood Pressure anymore.)
I started my wellness journey after I had my baby in December 2018 but didn’t start my journey until March. I was suffering from high blood pressure and getting injections in my joints. My joints were locking up and hurting very badly. I could barely hold or carry my baby. Being a single mother, I had no choice but to figure it out.
What was your daily calorie goal?
1500 -1600 was my calorie goal. I wasn’t perfect at counting, but I know my portions.
What is your intermittent fasting schedule?
I try to fast for at least 14-16 hours on most days. Some days, I go for 17 hours or more. My sleep schedule is different. I didn’t start intermittent fasting till mid-October 2019. I’ve also done about a 24 hour fast about five times since October for my faith and relationship with God.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I worked out at least three times a week for 30 mins to 45 mins (sometimes more, sometimes less) doing light and low impact exercises. I also walked with my five-pound weights and used my resistant bands for my arms.
Now, I practice yoga due to the pain I experience due to the illnesses I’m faced with. I only went to the gym for two months. I lost my transportation, but that didn’t stop me. I bought an Air Elliptical Machine and Ab ProCircle.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 205 pounds, and now I weigh 128 pounds. I don’t suffer from High Blood Pressure anymore.
What is your height?
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned to never give up.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
- Take pictures as you go.
- Ask God for strength and pray every day all day in Jesus’s name! He will help you get through when you don’t have the strength.
- On the days when you don’t feel like working out, try eating a little less.
- You need your vegetables and fruits. Put the drinks and juices down. Pick up water and green tea (no sugar)!
