Transformation of the Day: Kenyetta lost 95 pounds. After the passing of her husband last year, she experienced depression and weight gain. This mom worked with an online trainer and started making healthier choices. She’s transformed her body and her lifestyle. Check out her story.
I started my weight loss journey in October 2016. After the lost of my husband, I went into a depression. I weighed 305 pounds at 5’9″ and was very ashamed of my body.
My children inspired me to get going and take control of my health. I was going back and forth to the doctor and they wanted to put me medication. I refused to take it, so I had to make a change to get better. After talking with various people about my situation, I decided to start working on my body and making lifestyle changes… and I’ve done just.
In the beginning, I got in contact with a woman named Sadari Bowie who I used to work with in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a personal trainer. We talked and she asked me a lot questions. She wanted to know if I was I ready to take control of my body and my answer was yes. I was excited and I wanted to start seeing results.
Guided by my trainer, I started exercising through Skype. Mind you, my personal trainer lives in Florida and I live in Ripley, Tennessee. Not once did I go to a gym. I did all my workouts at home with instruction through the internet, which was amazing. I love it. I workout 2-3 times a week
I stopped eating fast foods and started making healthy choices. I also started using portion control containers and stopped drinking sodas. I only drink water now.
It took me 5 months to lose 70 pounds. Today, I weight 210 pounds. I was dedicated and focused, because it’s a mind thing. Today, I continue to eat healthy and exercise. It’s a lifestyle for me. If I can do it, anybody can do it.
My advice: It’s hard but you can do it. I say that because I have been through a lot after the loss of my husband last year. However, I was still able to make up my mind that this transformation was something that had to be done. Now, I have a brand new, healthy lifestyle.
