Transformation of the Day: Kayla lost 45 pounds. There were a number of reasons for her transformation, but her childern are her main motivation. She won Oxygen Magazine’s Oxygen Challenge 4 and is currently on the cover. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was my children. I’m also a cardiac surgery sales representative and seeing sick patients every day made me think that I needed to make a real change. Also, my father died from heart disease, and I don’t want to do the same if I can help it. I had several reasons for making a change.
How did you change your eating habits?
In the past, my diet wasn’t the best at all. It was a diet full of processed food and fast food. I changed my eating habits to a more plant-based/pescatarian diet. Now, I plan out my meals. I have created a plan that works well for both me and my family.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I worked out 5-6 times a week. I incorporated HIIT training, trained for a half marathon and did weight training. I’m a busy mom of two, so a lot of my workouts were done at home.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 180 pounds and my current weight is 135 pounds. My height is 5’6″. I am currently on the cover of Oxygen Magazine for January/February. I’ve had a lot of people reach out to me since my Oxygen cover was released asking about what I did. I have started to post my meals and meal prep online. Soon, I will start to post videos of my home workouts as well.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in July 2018. It took about 90 days.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
To push myself, even on days when I feel like giving up. I also learned to stay committed to health!
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
Create realistic goals and do something every day to get you closer to your goal.
