Transformation of the Day: Shelby lost 38 pounds. She graduated from college last year. When she looked at her grad photos, she got upset but she also found the motivation to change. Cutting carbs, drinking green smoothies and intermittent fasting has produced great results. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
Right after I from graduated college, I looked at my grad pics and got really upset with my body. So, I decided to change. I practically lived on YouTube and Instagram looking at other people’s weight loss stories. I also joined a lot of Facebook weight loss groups for tips and ideas.
How did you change your eating habits?
I lowered my carbohydrate intake. To kickstart my journey, I did the JJ Smith’s Green Smoothie Cleanse. That helped me a lot in terms of getting the hang of eating healthy. I also do intermittent fasting using the 16:8 method.
What did your workout routine look like?
In started by working out 3-4 days a week. Now, I workout 5-6 days a week. I do 40 minutes of cardio and about an hour of weight training. I also worked out in a fasted state because the time frame of intermittent fasting cut into my workout, so it forces me to do fasted cardio. I also do HIIT workouts 2-3 times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 253 pounds, and my current weight is 215 pounds. My height is 5’11″.
How long did your transformation take?
I started in July 2017 and became more strict about my journey in October, so it took 5-6 months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Starving yourself and depriving yourself of certain things will not help you to lose weight. That will only make you miserable.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Have a plan. Join weight loss groups on Facebook. There are so many people out there who will help you to stay motivated. Have cheat meals. Most importantly, believe in yourself and don’t starve yourself.
