Transformation of the Day: Latrice lost 76 pounds. She is a Registered Nurse and a Minister. Last year, people kept telling her that God needed me healthy for the upcoming season, so she took action. By going Keto and seeking out effective workout routines, she has transformed.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
Last year, it was so strange how different people kept telling me that God needed me healthy for the upcoming season. I was led to start my weight loss journey again. I was determined to do it better and different this time to live and be a better version of myself.
During this journey, there were times when I got sick of doing ‘right.’ I would talk to my sister about how I felt. She showed me that silence was better for me. When I was silent, my overthinking mind would convince me to get back on track.
I am grateful that I could stay the course on this healthy journey because I was also able to recover from COVID-19 (along with my daughter).
How did you change your eating habits?
I started eating the foods allowed on the Keto diet. On days that I did not want meat, I chose meatless options like nuts, eggs, protein shakes, and vegan meats. I am a ‘sweets’ person, so it was important for me to find alternatives. This included the Slim Fast fat bombs, Atkins drinks, keto smoothies from Smoothie King, homemade shakes with frozen mixed berries, etc.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I started with workouts from Be Better Fitness in Baton Rouge, LA, owned by Jordan Rosemond, during their six-week challenge. Faced with the pandemic, I followed his online workouts as well as online workouts from Adrian Brumfield.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My start weight was 275 pounds. My current weight is 199.2 pounds.

I began this journey again in September 2019. It has taken 10 months to reach this point.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I have not had any surgeries.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson has been the importance of getting back up when you do fall and fail. I dust myself off, learn from my mistakes, and keep going forward. I have also learned how this process has positively affected my health holistically.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
As you go through the process, do not compare yourself to anyone. Comparison is a killer to joy. This is YOUR journey.
Learn to receive the help you need on this journey, even if it comes from someone getting you upset. Get so upset that you stay the course.
It is also important to set boundaries with family and friends. In the end, you may encourage them to begin their journey.
Last, make sure you give yourself some grace on this journey but hold yourself accountable. Remember your Why as you experience various emotions and feelings on this journey. You got this!
