What was your motivation?
I was tired of feeling tired and old. My leg started to hurt when walking. It was hard to walk upstairs in my house. Also, my motivation was just wanting a change from the path I was on. That path was causing me to weigh 270 pounds and be pre-diabetic. I always felt tired, and always with low energy. My diet consisted of mostly sugar, no vegetables, and a lot of starchy foods. What really got me was when I joined the Fitness on Fire Online Training Program. I started eat more cleaner, and started exercising consistently.
I saw my 17 year old daughter continue to eat the way that I had, and she was inactive just like I was. I saw her continue to gain weight, and I saw her look helpless as she said “Mom, I don’t want to be bigger than you.” I knew that I had to stay on the path that Fitness on Fire showed me and get her to join me. Now, she is making progress on the plan as she is learning how to eat the right foods, and how important being active is if you want to reduce weight and just feel better. I’m thankful for the health and nutrition program that the program offers that is no nonsense and can be done by someone weighing 268 pounds on day one.
What inspired you to start your weight loss journey?
It was a before and after photo on my Facebook timeline of a lady named Lucy Merritt, another Fitness on Fire member. I connected with her story. I had spent thousands of dollars with weight loss programs, pills and foods… to no avail. I would lose 30 to 40 pounds, only to gain back the weight, plus more.
How did you change your eating habits?
Well, I cut the beef out of my diet, pork, and I logged everything I put in my mouth. I watched my sugar and fat intake also. I eat more vegetables now. I eat more protein now. I rarely eat any white rice or pasta, but I do eat yams. I have two snacks a day in between my meals.
What did your workout consist of?
I had a personalized regimen that was given to me by my online fitness coach, “King of the Fire”, who is the online trainer for FOF. I did resistance training along with cardio for 90-120 minutes, 5-6 days a week, and I stayed consistent.
How long did your transformation take?
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Do not sell yourself short. Focus on yourself, for once. I would also tell them to be consistent. When you have a bad day, or even a bad week, keep going no matter what. That’s where the consistency will fall in place. Don’t look back on any past failures. Look straight ahead and keep going.
Why did the “Fitness on Fire” Online Training Program work for you vs. other programs you’ve tried before?
The Fitness on Fire program worked for me because I am held accountable regarding what I put in my mouth. I also report on every exercise session that I do also. With FOF, I’m given a workout goal to reach until I get my next progress report. With every other program I’ve tried, I’ve always lost 30 to 40 pounds in about three to four months. However, I’d only end up putting the weight back on plus more. Exercise and eating less fat and sugar is becoming a way of life for me now. I’ve never kept up with any exercise program for eight months, ever. I like the way I feel when I’m done with my workout. The exercise and the way I eat now is very doable. It’s not complicated. That’s the difference.
