Anne lost 56 pounds. This year, she decided to change her life after being diagnosed with diabetes at at 340 pounds and 25 years of age. She wants to inspire other young women and let them know that committing to new, healthy habits can make a big difference. Check out how she did it.
My name is Anne. On April 8th, 2016, I was feeling sick, so I went to the Emergency room. The first thing they did was check my blood sugar. I found out that at 340 pounds and 25 years of age, I had become diabetic. That same night, when I got home, I decided this wouldn’t be the end of me. I decided that I would reverse my diagnosis. I’m managing my diabetes and hoping that my next set of labs show clear improvement from my initial diagnosis.
When I found out I was diabetic, I changed my diet and cut out most carbs. I follow a high fat low carb diet which seems to work really well for me. I found my plan and some pretty awesome recipes on the Diet Doctor website. My physical activity is really pretty simple. I walk for an hour and a half everyday and take yoga or Zumba 4 times a week.
I’m 5’11” and now weigh 284 pounds. I really want others, especially young women like myself, to know that they need to be aware of their bodies. I want them to understand that no matter how young they are, anything can happen, and that making better choices every day can make a really big change. I feel so much more comfortable in my body now. I still have a long battle ahead of me but finding your Instagram page and Facebook page has helped me to realize that I can do anything and that my diagnosis is not the end of my life. Thanks!
