I’m a mom of 3 who put on 80 lbs combined from pregnancy weight gain with each baby. I lost weight, through exercise and diet, as well as by learning to love myself on the inside first. I run, lift weights, play and am learning that there is no “after” only during. I’m a continual work in progress and I’m always learning from this journey.
I competed in a fitness competition right before my 39th birthday, and placed 1st in Figure short, and Figure Masters Short. After I competed, I took a little while to ‘settle in’. I think it was a matter of mindset. Thinking that “after” has a specific look. I have learned that it doesn’t. The journey must evolve…as must we. So now, in addition to lifting weights, I cross train and do distance running (just completed a half marathon). I also focus on making my activity fun.
In addition to working out, I do my best to eat balanced meals, focusing on portion control. No foods are off limits, as I incorporate the foods I love in moderation. I believe the key is balance.
