Sabrina and her daughter Alesha have been on a mission together. They’ve lost 87 pounds over the course of 13 months. I love it when family members support each other and they are a great example. Check out their story.
My daughter and I began our journey in July 2015. I had high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and high cholesterol. I decided I wasn’t going to take any additional pills for these diseases.
We worked with two of the greatest trainers in Bham, Alabama; Pierre and L’Tonya Lominy of PXF FITNESS. We worked with them for 3 months. In addition, we started
attending group fitness classes at our gym, 5-6 times a week. Our gym is 24e in Trussville, Al. They have some of the best instructors you’ll ever meet. We take Les Mills classes, RPM, Body Pump, CXWORX and Body Attack. It is the best investment in myself that I’ve ever made.
My daughter and I do weekend food preparations and that has been key to our success. My daughter, Alesha is currently eating low carbs and little to no sugar and the weight is falling off. I’m very proud of her because I know that for teenagers it’s difficult to concentrate on health and fitness.
We eat more veggies and protein. Snacking for me is nuts or protein shake. In the past, we were HUGE eater outers and occasionally have salads from Chik-fil-a. However, I stated above, we start the week knowing what we are having all week because we meal prep.
We motivate each other daily. Pushing each other to go work out, to workout, to drink water, not stop by our favorite fast food place, etc. It really helps to have a partner for accountability. We kept each other going.
Between the 2 of us, we have lost 87 pounds in 13 months. My beginning weight was a ridiculous 245 pounds and I’m currently at 188 pounds. I have had set backs but I continue to push because my life matters. We are both 5’4″ tall.
I would encourage anyone to invest the time in yourself daily. We are worth it.
