Transformation of the Day: Tammy lost 35 pounds. A family history of illness, her cousin experiencing a stroke and the loss of her grandfather to heart disease served as major motivation for this mom. What was your motivation? What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
I lost my grandfather in 2016 to heart disease. Shortly after that, my cousin had a massive stroke at 41 years old. Also, my family has a predisposition to diabetes. I wanted to make changes to ensure that I would be around to see my kids grow up and not have to miss out the on things we love to do because of illness, medication, obesity or fatigue. My children give me hope and they inspire me to keep going. They tell me I’m doing a great job and it pushes me to keep setting a good example for them.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits with an exercise and meal plan designed by Beachbody called the 21 Day Fix. I stopped eating fast food and started eating more lean protein. I almost completely removed junk and sweets.
What did your workout routines look like?
I work out 30 minutes a day at home doing cardio, weight training and endurance exercises. I follow home based workouts that target your core and help you build lean muscle.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 165 pounds and my current weight is 130 pounds. My height is 5’1″. No surgery, just proper nutrition and exercise.
How long did your transformation take?
I started in July 2016 and it took me 9 months to reach my goal.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
Don’t focus on weight loss or the scale. Instead, focus on being healthy! Make a lifestyle change so that you can stick with it!
