Weight Loss Success Story of the Day: Candince lost 75 pounds. She was at risk of being obese and suffering health problems related to weight so she made the decision to invest in her health. Here is what she shared with us:
“I just wanted to share my story. My journey started back in 2012. After being told by my physician that I was obese, as well as in danger of diabetes and high blood pressure, I knew I needed to stop wishing for a healthier me and start working for it. It was a wakeup call at 238 pounds (size 18). I couldn’t fit anything in my closet and was in the worst shape.
I lost 75 pounds in less than a year by exercising 6 times a week. I also hired a personal training for strength training 2 times a week. I used working out as a way to combat stress and made it a priority. Not even work prevented me from exercising because jobs come and go but I only have ONE ME!! I threw out all processed foods and learned to eat clean! Once I quit making excuses for myself the change happened. Best decision I could have ever made. At 163 pounds my body thanks me everyday!
My advice would be to throw away the scale, surround yourself with positive people who help keep you encouraged and understand that losing even one pound is a HUGE milestone!!”

I know you hear it daily, but I would like to congratulate you on a job well done!!!!! May I ask your height. . And when you weren’t strength training, what other forms of exercise did you do?
Candince says
I am 5’3. When I don’t strength train I mix up my cardio (treadmill, stair master, elliptical or water aerobics).

Great !! i would keep the scale good to keep track its easy to get off track. But if you know your weight And weigh yourself you can reevaluate your eating plan and get back on track!!
Candince says
For me the scale was my enemy. I was a slave to it and would weigh too often. It was discouraging to me. Picking a day and weighing like at the gym was a better option for me.

Congrats on your weight loss and you are so correct about the scale being discouraging. I was doing well on my 15th day of my 100 day fitness challenge until a couple of days ago I got on the scale and saw I had gained 2 pounds. I went back to bed! Scale be gone!

I am the same weight now you were when you started. I have 3 small kids(6,4,7mo) and it’s hard to make time for me to workout. Thank you for your story because I want to lose 90lbs. And its going rough for me. But the 1 thing you said really hit me. No job got in my way because jobs come and go but there is only 1 me. I know that I need to do some serious planning to make it. So thank you for your story! !!!! And you look gorgeous!

Candace you ROCK! You look fabulous, healthy and toned! Your story just gave me validation on the methods I am just beginning. The scale has too much power over me; if it doesn’t reflect my hard work it can be very demoralizing. I am eating clean, doing yoga, cardio and strength training. I vowed to only weigh myself when my clothes become too loose. Thanks for sharing your story, it is very encouraging. PS. You must be tall because you look smaller than 160!
Candince says
Thank you! I am 5’3 but toning and how you carry weight plays a major role.
