Transformation of the Day: Stephanie lost 67 pounds. This proud Zeta Phi Beta soror gained over 70 lbs over the course of 5 years due to depression. Prompted by her doctor and her concerns about diabetes and PCOS, she decided that it was time to take action. Check out what she did to release the pounds.
My name is Stephanie W. I am 29 years old and I have lost a total of 67 pounds since January. I am just 6 lbs. away from my initial goal weight.
What was your motivation?
I had gone through a period of deep depression and gained 70+ pounds over the course of about 5 years. Additionally, I had been told by my doctor that I needed to lose weight and that I was pre-diabetic (diabetes runs on both sides of my family). I really became tired of feeling tired and having no energy. I also have PCOS, and wanted to try to better take care of myself to keep that in check.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started using the Herbalife Nutrition plan. It is a great fit for me because I’m typically not a breakfast person. It provided me with something quick and easy for breakfast. Using Herbalife, I have been guided by my coach (who happens to be my fraternity brother) and have learned so much about the importance of macronutrients and adequate caloric intake. I count calories using MyFitnessPal. I cook often, using fresh or frozen veggies, lots of chicken, turkey and fish. I have cut out fast food such as McDonald’s, Taco Bell and Burger King. I eat about 5-6 times a day and I eat smaller portions. I drink plenty of water, and very rarely drink juice or pop.
What did your workout routines look like?
In January, I began working out daily, Sun-Sat, doing 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical. I gradually increased my time from 40 min, to 50 min and 60 min over time. Now, I go back and forth between the elliptical, walking and jogging. I typically workout 5-7 days a week now.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 243 pounds. My current weight 176 pounds. Height: 5’2″
How long did your transformation take?
I started in January 2016 and I lost 67 lbs. in 10 months. No surgery.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
I would advise other people who want to lose weight to find something that truly works for them and stick to it! Every person is different. You have to be willing to make some major changes in your lifestyle and not make excuses. That is what I have learned in this process.
