Transformation of the Day: Loretha lost 87 pounds. This Alabama mom’s motivation is her children. She wants to live a long, healthy life for them. Counting calories and using the My Fitness Pal app really helped her get the results she was looking for. Check out her story.
My name is Loretha and I’m from Alabama. I’m a little nervous about putting my weight out here, but I think that I can inspire someone through my journey. When I stepped on the scale in February 2017, I saw this horrible number: 339.5. Today (12/04/17), I stepped on the scale and I saw 252.4. Thats a total of 87.1 pounds lost. Still pushing forward, because I’m determined to not be obese anymore. 12.9 more pounds and I’ll be 100 pounds down. #goingfromobesetobeast #weightlossjourney
What was your motivation?
My motivation is my kids and wanting to live a longer and healthier life with them.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started counting calories using the My Fitness Pal app. In the beginning, I did a sugar detox where I didn’t eat any sweets or starches. I completely stopped drinking sodas. Today, I pretty much eat whatever I want and I only drink water. To stay on track, I just don’t go over 1100 calories a day.
What did your workout routine look like?
I workout for at least 30 minutes each day.

February 2017. Weight loss surgery was not part of my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Losing weight is 80% of what you eat and 20% exercise. I’ve also learned to count calories and watch my overall caloric intake.
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
It’s all in your mind. Once you make up in your mind that you want to lose the weight, you can do it.
