Transformation of the Day: Lauren lost 48 pounds this year after giving birth to her son. This Caribbean lady gained 60 pounds during pregnancy due to poor eating habits. She worked out regularly and became a vegetarian. Check out her journey.
My weight loss journey started shortly after I had my first son on April 18, 2016. I went from 160 pounds to 220 pounds. That’s a total of 60 lbs. gained during pregnancy due to eating poor quality and processed foods. A few weeks after giving birth, looking at my body in the mirror really made me depressed. I knew I wanted to make a change not just for me, but for my family as well. This before photo was taken one week after I gave birth.
What drove me to workout was that I wanted to be an inspiration to all mothers. My faith and family is my main motivation. My nutrition plan consists of all natural foods. I challenged my mind and body and became a vegetarian. I ate mostly ground foods (natural foods from the earth soil) and my cheat meals were wild caught fish or organic chicken. I would have that kind of cheat meal mainly to ensure I was receiving enough protein considering that I’m not a big fan of beans.
I train 5 times a week, training two days out the week two times a day. Cardio was the most important part of my training since I’m focusing on weight loss. I also use light to medium weights, doing 15-25 reps for toning and muscle conditioning. There are some days when I do not have the energy or I just do not feel like working out. My mind always reminds me that the world will go on with or without you, so you’d better not get left behind.
My starting weight was 215 pounds and my current weight is 168 pounds. The best advice I have is to give yourself 1 hour a day. Even if it’s just you dancing by yourself, you’re doing something. Never give up. Progress is better than perfection!
