Transformation of the Day: Franki lost over 100 pounds. She wanted to prove to herself that she could lose the weight. She also wanted to make her mom proud and that desire was rewarded with a special gift from her mom. Also, finding out that she was pregnant during her 3 year journey did not derail her success. Check out her awesome transformation.
My motivation to lose weight honestly was to prove to myself that I could make the change. I also wanted to prove to others that it is possible to lose weight and make a change in your life without surgery. What inspired me the most when I wanted to give up was my mother. Growing up, all I ever wanted to do was make my mother proud. I wasn’t an honor roll student and my first job wasn’t making ten figures, but the fact that I was losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle… that alone would make my mother proud.
I had to change my eating habits drastically. It’s truly crazy when I think about it. I never used to drink water like I should, only soda and juice. I would eat carryout food and pizza late at night, then fall right asleep. I had to start drinking a gallon of water a day. I also limited my carb intake, and my protein intake was off the chain. I basically had to changemy whole way of eating. It’s definitely true what they say; you cannot outwork a bad diet. I wasn’t on any specific diet plan or programs, I just cut out the fatty foods and carbs. I read the label of everything I ate, and I weighed and measured my food daily. Food prep ended up being my best friend.
When I first decided to start losing weight, I started going to the gym to work out at Planet Fitness. I really didn’t know what I was doing. I got on the same machine every time. I didn’t see a difference at first, but eventually working out began to grow on me. I worked out five days a week every week for five months, and lost fifty pounds. I was extremely proud, but then I hit a plateau. No weight loss for three months. I was devastated, but I didn’t let that stop me. I still went to the gym, five days a week every month. Then the unexpected happened, my mother surprised me with a free personal trainer for 6 months. I worked out with her, three days a week for almost a year. I do weight training and high intensity cardio for 1 hour on the days I go to personal training with my amazing trainer.
At this point, I’d lost seventy pounds and I was so happy because that meant my total weight loss was almost a hundred pounds gone. Then there was a curveball. I found out that I was two months pregnant with my son. However, I didn’t let that stop me. I had a C-section, and I didn’t work out for a whole year. and I gained fifty-nine pounds back. After the year was up, I got right back in the gym like I never even left.
My starting weight was 310 pounds and my current weight is 204 pounds. My goal weight is 175 pounds. I am 5’6 and 6/8ths tall. I started my weight loss journey in 2013. Not including my year break that I took off after having my son, it took me almost two years to lose 107 pounds. I am 30 pounds away from completing my transformation.
In 2016, I started a GoFundMe account. After an extreme weight loss, it is possible for your body to have a lot of excess skin, and unfortunately I have a lot of it. Health insurance will only cover a certain portion of the surgery, so I’m hoping that I can raise enough money to get a full tummy tuck. It literally kills me knowing that I lost all this weight, and yet I am not satisfied with my body. I don’t like not being able to go to the beach and wear a two-piece swimsuit, or feeling sexy when I look in the mirror.
My advice to anyone who is overweight and not happy with their life or just trying to live a healthier life, is to simply NEVER GIVE UP. The process will not happen overnight, and it will definitely take some time, but if you EAT CLEAN and TRAIN DIRTY then the sky is the limit.
