Transformation of the Day: Lindsay lost 74 pounds. Seeing one of her sorority sisters lose a significant amount of weight inspired her to start her journey. She found that working out 4-6 days a week and adopting a low-carb, low-calorie lifestyle works best for her.
What was your motivation? I had been overweight my entire life. I was finally motivated to take fitness and weight loss seriously after seeing one of my sorority sisters lose 40 pounds in about three months. Once I began to be dedicated to my goals, I stayed motivated by the results!
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up? I was inspired mainly by the results I saw, but I was also inspired by how I was feeling! I felt empowered and almost invincible doing something I tried so hard and never succeeded at until now.
How did you change your eating habits? I cut out all sugar, dairy, and most carbs except complex carbs at the beginning of my weight loss journey. I followed a low-carb, low-calorie meal plan which helped me shed significant weight in the beginning. As time has gone on, I have tried variations of various meal plans, including keto and intermittent fasting. However, I’ve found that a low-carb, low-calorie diet works best for me.
What did your workout routine consist of? My workouts consisted of cardio, HIIT, and a little strength training. Once I began to drop more weight, I incorporated more strength training into my routine.
How often did you work out? I worked out about six times a week. Now I work out 4-6 times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight? My starting weight was 289 pounds. My current weight is 215 pounds.
What is your height? I’m 5’4″.
When did you start your journey? I have been on this journey for years, but I credit my official start in May 2017.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? No, but I want surgery to be a part of my journey. While I am not interested in having weight loss surgery specifically, now that I have lost a significant amount of weight, I am looking forward to and working hard to get body reconstruction surgery (specifically, excess skin removal).
How long did your transformation take? In 10 months, I lost 100 pounds and got to my lowest weight of 181 pounds (March 2018). Now I support and motivate others with my journey with my business, SlayThick Fitness.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is to be patient and gracious with myself, believe in myself, and push myself! All of these things have kept me consistent on my journey and fueled my love and passion for fitness, health, wellness, and weight loss.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight? My advice for women who want to lose weight is to find a program, system, or schedule that works for them! While the fundamentals of weight loss are consistent, weight loss itself isn’t a cookie-cutter process. Find what works for you and STICK WITH IT!
