Weight Loss Story: Akia lost 64 pounds. Taking action by doing things like running and using My Fitness Pal has helped her to release the weight. Her best friend Kinnon got the answers to our interview questions and sent in her story. I love it when friends celebrate each other.
My best friend Akia’s motivation for losing weight was her inner drive to change herself, inside and out. She was unhappy with her life, lack of personal relationships, and most of all her physical appearance. She knew that working on herself externally would help her internally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. The motivation that kept her from giving up was seeing the pounds fall off.
She cut out soft drinks, junk food, bread and pasta. She had a cut off time each day for eatings, which was 7:00 pm. She also counted her calories daily on My Fitness Pal (goal: 1,880 calories).
Her workout routine is that she works out 4 times a week. She does 4 miles a week of running. She also does core strength training, cardio and Zumba. You could find her doing things like 100 sit ups, 3 sets of 30 squats, burpees, etc.
Her starting weight was 245 pounds and now she weighs 181 pounds… and counting! Her goal weight is 165 pounds. Her height is 5’6″. Her journey started on August 18th, 2015. She noticed her transformation had really taken off when she couldn’t fit the size 20 pants anymore. (that was in November of 2015!!)
Her advice to others who want to lose weight, like myself, is that it is possible and whatever you put your mind to you can achieve it! Even though it may be hard sometimes and you may seem challenged, you have to push harder and look toward your end goal. Face the future and not the past! Never look back and always embrace yourself, no matter what! Be your own biggest supporter!
She did all of this without surgery. Just consistency, determination, hard work, eating right and trusting in herself! I am so proud of her accomplishments thus far!
