What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was getting healthy. After being diagnosed with PCOS, diabetes, and high cholesterol, I knew I needed to make a change. I had to make a change immediately, or my life could be shortened. My faith in God, prayer, and my family inspired me to keep going and not give up.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Yes, it is. I had gastric sleeve surgery on March 29, 2022. It is one of the best decisions I could ever make in my life!
How did you change your eating habits?
My eating habits changed tremendously. I stopped eating sweets and drinking sodas. Instead, I started drinking more water and sugar-free drinks. Also, I stuck to mostly chicken and fish options. Vegetables and fruits have truly become my best friend these days. Also, I incorporated more healthy snacks.
What is your workout routine?
I usually do a mixture of strength training, cardio (elliptical, treadmill, walking, cycling, etc.), and Pilates. Pilates has indeed become one of my favorite workout routines. I do 1 to 2 days of Pilates workouts; the other workouts consist of cardio or strength training.
How often did you work out?
I usually work out 4 to 5 times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 299 pounds. My current weight is 210 pounds.
What is your height?
5’3″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I originally started my journey a few years back and stopped. I currently started it back up in March 2022. So it has almost been a full year of being fully dedicated to this lifestyle change.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned is to trust the process and don’t rush it. Things take time. This is not a race.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Don’t give up! Keep pushing and fighting. It will get hard, and some days will be better than others. But in the end, it will all be worth it! Also, take baby steps to achieve your goals.
