Transformation of the Day: MoNesha shared her story with us in 2021 after she lost 42 pounds. This amazing breast cancer survivor shared with us the steps she took to restore/take back her health after treatment and surgery. In this update, she shares how she’s been able to maintain her success and thrive.
What is your current weight?
My current weight is…I don’t know! I broke up with the scale because the numbers on the scale weren’t reflecting what I saw in the mirror, and it was frustrating! What I saw was my body changing, and I could still be 190, but a leaner and more toned 190.
How have you maintained your weight loss/continued to lose weight?
I have really focused on my eating habits and my mental health. I realized I am an emotional eater, so I have been dealing with my emotions, therapy, meditation, setting boundaries, and making more time for myself.

Looking back on the lessons you’ve learned on your journey, which one stands out the most?
My emotional health is key to maintaining my weight loss. I have lost my sister, godmother, stepmother, aunt, and uncle all in the last year. Also, my mother has Stage 4 cancer, and I am a cancer survivor. My emotional and mental health have been tested.
When I get sad, depressed, angry, anxious, or have any negative feelings, I used to go straight to food as a source of comfort. I found other healthy ways to deal with my emotions.
Would you like to offer any new or different advice to women who want to lose weight?
Don’t focus so much on the numbers. Focus on getting stronger. Focus on watching your body change. Take pride in the small victories because they will add up to the big ones!
Also, be kind to yourself. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Make small changes to your habits, start walking, drink more water, and eat fewer sugary treats. You will start seeing results.
