Akosua lost 105 pounds

February 15, 2017 by Ajima Jackson 1 Comment

Tranformation of the Day: Akosua lost 105 pounds. Concerns about her failing health led her to have weight loss surgery. She also ate low carb, high protein meals and worked out regularly to get results. Check out what she shared with us.

What was your motivation?
My motivation was my failing health. I was pre-diabetic and my blood pressure was rising. I decided to have Gastric Sleeve weight loss surgery.

What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
My husband has been my biggest supporter.

How did you change your eating habits?
I’ve had a huge change. Right after surgery, I wasn’t able to eat solids. After that period, I followed a strict low carb and high protein diet. I stopped eating sugary foods and high carb foods.

What did your workout routines look like?
I workout at least 3 days a week for an hour. I do 40 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of weights.

Starting weight/Current weight
I have lost 105 pounds since May! My highest weight was 348 pounds. My current weight is 243 pounds. My height is 5’10”.

When did you start your journey?
May 2, 2016 and I’m still transforming.

What is the biggest lesson you learned on this journey?
I put off my surgery for a year because the people around me thought I would be hurt by it. In the end, I followed my first mind and continued with surgery! Go with your instincts and make self care your number one priority!

What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Reach out and find the support you need. Make your food choices like you’re allergic to bad food, lol.
