Transformation of the Day: Shannea lost 60 pounds. After being pregnant two years in a row, she began her transformation journey two months after giving birth to her 2nd child. She used intermittent fasting, keto/low carb meals, and at-home workout programs to release the weight. She is on a mission to be a healthy mom for her kids.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I initially started working out because I was officially two months postpartum with my second child. (I was pregnant for two years in a row) I felt so tired and so uncomfortable in my body. I knew that to be the best mother for my children, I needed to be healthy. So on January 1, 2021, I took my before photos and began my journey. My motivation was and still is my kids! I want them to be so proud of their mommy for committing to a goal and completing it.
How did you change your eating habits?
Throughout this journey, I had many ups and downs with my diet. That was the most challenging part for me. I maintained my Intermittent fasting routine (a 20/4, 16/8, 14/10 window, and sometimes I would attempt one meal a day). I also switched between Keto and a flexible, low-carb diet. I found this really worked for me and allowed me to maintain a healthy diet.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I would work out 5-6 times a week consistently. I often did workout programs. Some of the programs I completed were:
- Insanity Max 30
- Chloe Ting (on YouTube)
- Walk the Weight Off workouts (on YouTube)
In the summer, I also began running between 5-10k every other day.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Postpartum Starting Weight: between 272 pounds – 275 pounds
Starting Weight on January 1, 2021: 262 pounds
Current Weight: 202 pounds
What is your height?
5’10”
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I began my journey on January 1, 2021, and it took me one year to lose 58 pounds.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? No.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned is to love myself, be kind to myself and understand that consistency is key. None of this happened overnight, so being gentle with yourself and understanding that this is a process is so important.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Take it one day at a time! Losing weight is not only about exercise and eating certain foods. It truly is a mindset. Looking at each day as another opportunity to be better than the day before is the only way to keep pushing. There will be times when the scale won’t move, even when you feel like you are doing everything right. Don’t get discouraged, and don’t give up. Keep pushing and know that you are going to reach that goal no matter what.
