Transformation of the Day: Kaekae lost 80 pounds with healthy food and exercise. Her journey started after vowing to take care of herself mentally, physically, and spiritually. She has been working hard since 2019 to create a healthy lifestyle and make self-care a priority.
My name is Kaekae, and I’ve been on my fitness journey for about two years now. When I started my fitness journey, I weighed about 245 pounds and had no idea how to lose it. I experienced many hiccups and had to start over many times, but I’m proud I stuck with my program and made it to where I am today. I now weigh about 160 – 165 pounds. Although I’m still on my fitness journey, I’m very comfortable with my body nowadays.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I made a vow that I would take care of myself mentally, physically, and spiritually while finding a healthy lifestyle that works for me! So, even if it took me years, I decided in 2018 that I wouldn’t stop working to be a better me, a comfortable me.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating out and started cooking most of my meals! I also stopped eating a lot of processed/fried foods and began to look into what a healthy plate should look like. I also researched what macros are (proteins, fats, & carbs) and tried to incorporate that knowledge into my daily routine.
I didn’t follow a specific diet. Instead, I just tried my best to make healthier decisions.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I worked out every day of the week and gave myself breaks on the weekends and holidays. At first, it was tough to stay consistent because I didn’t really know what I was doing. However, after I became more comfortable with being active, I created a workout plan that I knew I could keep up with.
I started by doing a lot of cardio. Eventually, I added weight lifting into my routine. I continued doing my own routine for a year before seeing any results, so I modified it based on my wants and needs. I still use my workout plan to this day!
What is your height?
I’m 5’2″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I officially started my journey in 2019. However, I began to think about my health critically during 2018. It took me a year before I saw any results.
Now, I would say I’m actually finished. I’m still learning so many things about fitness and nutrition. I am still learning new ways to transform my body.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I never got any type of weight loss surgery or surgical procedures. By the grace of God, I was able to lose all my weight naturally by eating healthy food and working out.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned to love my body in all forms. I also learned how to have self-love and that caring for myself isn’t just a bi-product of losing weight. It comes from genuinely wanting to be a better person inside and out!
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
My advice would be to start now and don’t give up! Everyone’s journey is different! You may have some hiccups or setbacks but stay focused on the end goal!
Commit yourself to a healthier lifestyle that you know you can maintain, and you will slowly but surely see results! Small steps add up to huge achievements!
