Transformation of the Day: Shatina lost 95 pounds with healthy food and exercise. This proud teacher was determined to find a mix of practical and healthy habits that she could commit to for life. Not only is she showing up for herself daily by being committed and consistent, but she wants her journey to inspire the young people in her life.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I’m motivated by my son and my 8th-grade math students. My son motivates me because I want to show him how strong his mom really is. My students are also my motivation because my success encourages them, letting them know that anything is possible even when it seems impossible.
How did you change your eating habits?
I tried every diet you could think of, but they didn’t work for me. I wanted to figure out what eating habits I could live with for the rest of my life. So I started eating healthy portion-sized meals and limited my daily carb intake.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I worked out at the gym or at home 6 to 7 days a week for 30 to 45 minutes. My workout routine included at least 20 minutes of cardio, and I also did weight training.
What was your starting weight?
My starting weight was 315 pounds.
What is your current weight?
My current weight is 220 pounds.

I am 5’2″

I started my journey in 2018.
How long did your transformation take?
I’m not counting because this is a lifetime commitment.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I didn’t have surgery. I did it all naturally.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that the secret to successful weight loss is consistency and dedication.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Never give up and go at your OWN pace. Your journey is your journey. Also, enjoy the ride to self-love.
