Tamara has lost 94 pounds
} ?>Tamara has transformed her health and weight losing 94 pounds.
She says, “Hey Ive been so inspired through this page, I wanted to share my story to hopefully motivate another strong beautiful woman struggling with weight loss. Sept 14,2012 marks my 1 year weight loss epiphany. Sept 14,2011 I choose ME. I set out to conquer a task I’d never regret. I’ve cried ,cursed ,fallen , got up ,fell harder but most of all I CONQUERED ! And I NEVER gave up. I weighed myself on this anniversary and I’m 94 lbs lighter then I was 12months ago! My many friends and supporters have filled my heart with love and blessings! I Thank family ,friends and instructors who have been there and who are still there cheering me on as this is far from over! 50 lbs to go! #team GETITIN

Initially I used weight watchers online that helped me control my portions as I was a fast food junkie and that program allowed me to still have it in moderation until eventually I phased it out completely. Then incorporated that with the curves program 30 min 3 times a week, incorporated lean meats good carbs, fruits and veggies . The biggest help was a simple equation sugar =fat I kept my sugar low and my foods clean limiting processed and high sodium foods! As I’m still trying to loose I’m on a high protein regimen I work out 5 days alternating cardio, strength and conditioning at the gym and 2 days doing a sport of my choice swimming running etc i hope this helps thank you for sharing my story.”
Tamara, Thank you SO much for sharing the details of your transformation with us!!

Syree has gone from 328 to 191!
} ?>Let’s show some love to Syree who has gone from 328 to 191 with the help of weight loss surgery!
She says, “I have met my goal! I am officially in the maintenance stage. I shared my story a little while ago. I had gastric bypass surgery on October 26, 2011. 3 weeks after surgery I began working out with a trainer. I worked out on average 2-4 hours a day. Some days more, working out twice a day. Since my journey started, I have done the Warrior Dash. This is a 5k obstacle course and I am now a licensed Zumba Instructor. 2 weeks before surgery, my high weight was 328 lbs. I wore a size 26. I now weigh 191 lbs and wear a size 12 (I’m 5’11”). I am an entirely different person and will never go back! I’m thankful for forums like this where I can share my story and hopefully inspire and give hope to others. We can do this ladies!!!!” Great job, Syree!!!
Rolina lost 57 pounds!
} ?>Today’s Featured Success Story: Rolina has lost 57 pounds!

She says, “Well, I was going to wait until I lost all my weight to post this, but maybe how far I have come will encourage another lady. I was at 250 lbs, my heaviest ever. I was in the doctor’s office facing reality. I had just had some follow up blood work done and my doctor told me that my good cholesterol was too high and that she would have to prescribe me medicine to control it. I was already taking one medication for type 2 diabetes and another for thyroid disease; now I have to take a third? My doctor said if my good cholesterol stayed high for too long then it could cause heart disease, so she prescribed me yet another medication to take. I left the doctor’s office upset, disgusted and headed straight a gym to sign up. I had been working out at the gym and tried to watch everything that I ate, but I only seem to lose a few pounds. Although happy with those accomplishments, my weight just seemed to plateau at 242. I looked into getting a personal trainer, but it was too costly. I joined Weight Watchers on 1/31/12. I am now down a total of 57 lbs. I work out 4-5 days a week. I went from a size 22 to a size 14. I love it! I am not on a diet; it’s a life changing eating plan for me. I am now off all medicines and I feel great. For me this was a life or death situation, since major heart disease runs in my family- my mother, brother and sister all have pace makers/heart defibulator. I cut my food intake down, eat more fruits and vegetables and I still enjoy going out to eat with my husband for date night, but I now make better food choices. I still have 30 lbs to lose, and I am looking forward to a more healthier life.” Thank you for sharing your transformation story with us, Rolina!
Keionne lost 52 pounds
} ?>Update 2015: It’s been more than 3 years since we featured Keionne‘s story. She wrote in to let us know that she’s “still at it”. I asked her how she’s been able to maintain her weight loss. “By staying consistent and working out 5 days a week. I work out with a coworker who sends me workout routines and I joined a workout group on Facebook (Earn Your Body). Eating habits: I eat 3 meals and two snacks while working two jobs. Also, I don’t eat after 6 pm.”

September 2012 – Today’s Featured Before and Afters comes from Keionne who has gone from 210 pounds to 158 pounds.

“It took me 2 years. I got tired of not be able to walk without being out of breath. I didn’t like the way I looked, so I decided to make a change. I first started off eating salad and using moderation with my food portions. I stopped eating the sweets, drinking sodas and eating take out food. Instead, I just started eating healthy. For exercise, I started working out at home doing the exercise tapes. Then, I worked my way up to the gym. I went from 210 lbs to 180 lbs, and now I weigh 158 lbs. I’m now working on toning and just maintaining my weight. A friend told me about this page. I thank you for the BWLW page cause it keeps me motivated and others on here motivate me. Anyway I can motivate others, I’m happy to. You are God’s blessings to me. Thanks!” www.facebook.com/keionne.jackson

Skye has lost 56 pounds
} ?>Online Community Member Kiluni Skye has transformed her health and her body and gone from 224 lbs to 179 pounds since June. She has posted a number of photos from her journey on blackwomenlosingweight.com.
She says, “I started my official weight loss journey on June 16, 2012 and at that time I weighed in at 224 pounds! I used my biggest fear “Insecurity” as my motivation for losing weight. For the most part of my life I was always small and never weighed no more than 140 lbs. But overtime and after having two kids, my weight began to stick to me and I simply ignored it. And before I knew it, I had reached 235 lbs within 2-3 years (2009-2012). Once looking at myself in the mirror became a nightmare, I decided that once and for all it was time for me to regain control of my life and my overall health. One day I went into my kitchen and had a meltdown; I cried and frantically threw everything out. And for once I felt a sense of “Power & Control” again! I was tired of people asking me what happened and if I was pregnant. At the beginning of May, 2012 I changed the way I ate & exercised 30 minutes a day and managed to go from 235 to 224 by the middle of June. On June 16, 2012 I officially joined a weight loss clinic and began my journey to become a “Refined Me” on June 17, 2012. And 91 days later, I’m now 179 lbs and happier than ever! Though my weight lost journey has just begun, I’ve lost a total of 56 lbs and I refuse to give up on my goal to reach 160 or less by February of next year.” Great job, Skye!!!!!
