Let’s show some BWLW love to Lashunda of Atlanta. This tall diva had gastric bypass weight loss surgery in 2009 and lost 159 pounds. Changing what she ate and working are also part of her weight loss equation and how she has maintained her weight loss. Here is what she shared with us:
My name is Lashunda and I’m from Atlanta, GA. In early 2009, I was put on high blood pressure pills and also told that I was borderline diabetic. So, I knew that I had to take action. Aug 4, 2009, I had the Gastric Bypass Surgery. The day of my surgery I was 307 pounds. Changing my eating habits and working out I am able to maintain a weight of 148. It’s been almost 4 years for me. I lost my first 100 pounds in the first 4 months. I am feeling Fabulous. Here are my before and after shots…

I decided to enter a pageant this year which caused me to finally focus on me. I felt good and looked good! Since November 2012, I have lost 40 pounds and I have been crowned Ms. Washington Plus America 2013! I am not where I want to be, but truly not where I used to be. I work out 5 days a week, eat as clean as possible, take healthy supplements, laugh, sing, read blogs and check pages like Black Women Lose Weight. I also keep my goal in front of me, which is to lose 128 pounds. Slow and Steady! I struggle but I always get back up!
