Transformation of the Day: Dalilah lost 45 pounds by fueling her body with healthy food and working out. Not only has she released the weight and kept it off for years, but she is on a mission to help people transform mentally and physically.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation is other women and young girls who went through or are currently going through pain and struggles. I was given a higher purpose to help people develop mentally and physically.
When people tell me I motivate and inspire them, it keeps me going. No matter how bad my day is, that is what keeps me going.
How did you change your eating habits?
I created a negative relationship with unhealthy foods by researching ingredients and learning about the negative effect those foods can have on the mind and body. I also stopped eating junk food little by little and replaced those foods with much healthier options.
I used a weight loss meal plan. Now I’m on an alkaline vegan diet. I still enjoy food, but it’s much healthier.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I started by doing a lot of cardio, HIIT, and conditioning training. In basic training, we did a lot of strength and conditioning training. My strength training consisted of mostly bodyweight exercises and cardio, such as running, sprints, and quick movement exercises.
In the beginning, I worked out 3-4 times a week. Now, I train six times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 185 pounds, and I currently weigh 140 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5’4″.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey back in 2012. I lost the weight in about nine months.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, but I had breast augmentation because after I lost weight because my breast became smaller and started sagging. I decided to do it because, at the time, it was what I wanted. However, now I want to get them taken out.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that it’s ok not to be perfect. I will make mistakes. The difference is that now I learn from every lesson. I also had to realize everybody can’t go to the top with me, and it’s ok to love some people from a distance.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Ask yourself what your WHY is? Use that to keep going. When you are thinking about quitting, remember your WHY. “There’s A Better Version Of You Waiting On You.”

Starting out on November 26,2012 when I woke up and joined Lifetime Fitness my life has not been the same since. I walked into Lifetime weighing a hefty 260 pounds, the largest I had ever been in my life. I started off going to the gyms twice a day as well as training with a personal trainer so that I could get my technique right on how to lift. They also told me what I needed to do to get this weight off of body. I had just gotten out of a abusive relationship and over the past two years. I had gained over a hundred plus pounds and something had to change. I came to Lifetime once before and I knew I wanted to come back but I was in a financial bind and that was not in my budget. Once my financial situation turned around I knew I had no more excuses. I love to dance and so I did every chance I got. Every Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon I took all Dance Jams and Zumba classes I could do. I am a chef so food was not the problem but proper eating was. We often think to lose weight we must starve ourselves but contrary to popular beliefs you must eat a clean proper diet in order to lose weight. By Feb of 2013, I could see my hard work paying off. I was almost out of the 200’s and those around me could see me melting away as well. When the seasons changed, I joined Bootcamp and lost more. I did a 90 day challenge in spring/summer of 2013 and I believe I placed in the transformation section of the competition. I tried my hardest but I never gave up. In December of 2013, I have decided to get into bodybuilding. I lost over half my bodyweight and I knew that from a lifetime of my weight being up and down that this was now a lifestyle change, It has been the best change I have ever made. I am now at 16% body fat and I don’t care about what the scale says. It’s about how I look and feel. My ultimate goal is to train others and utilize my cooking skills as well as my found knowledge of body transformation and lifestyle changes to help others being out there inner healthy person. I am now known as Mia Blaze of Blaze Athletics – “Blazing a trail to a new beginning”. Follow me of Instagram at
