Weight Loss Success Story of the Day: Lola lost 70 pounds. After being diagnosed with several weight-related health conditions, she changed her lifestyle to lose weight and get healthy. Now, she is on a mission to make health her business. Here is what she shared with us:

Hello my name is Lola, I just wanted my share my progress with you and the world (haha). I was 250 pounds not to long ago, along with having high blood pressure, high cholesterol and being borderline pre-diabetic (which I did not know). It took me 2 years in total along with many yo-yo diets until finally I was tired of going through it all.
I lost 70 pounds. I changed my diet. I basically took out sugar and salt from my diet and ate nothing but chicken, fish, vegetables and fruits. If I did rice or pasta, it was wheat pasta or spaghetti squash pasta. I didn’t follow any type of recipes. I made up my own recipes. I also did protein smoothies in the morning because I am a working girl, so I barely had time to make since breakfast but except on my days off. I did not starve myself either. If I was hungry, I would eat something like nuts, fruit or a yogurt. As for exercise, I worked out at the gym about 6 times a week for 2 hours a day. If I wasn’t tired when I got home I did Hip Hop Abs or Insanity. If I had a cheat day I would eat whatever I wanted to eat early in the day and still find a way to incorporate my healthy eating habits/snack/protein shakes the rest of the day.
Now, I’m working on my own fitness/wellness/healthy eating type of business as well as going back to school studying nutrition. It’s all a working progress but I have come to far to give up and go back to that dark place in my life. I want to encourage other people who struggle day by day with weight and being excepted. That has always been a problem for me. And I feel there’s not a lot of people of color in the health and wellness field. That will be my focus from here on and out.

Depending on what time of day it is the metabolism will act slower or faster naturally (for most people, that is. Health issues can affect this cycle). This is why learning what to eat and when you should eat it to get the most from your diet is essential. As science discovers more about how our bodies work, you will be surprised to find out that some age old advice about when to eat has always been right, and there are some new findings that may turn the typical diet advice on its head. It is important to remember that your body is also going to adjust to your cycle, so you may have a different metabolic rhythm if you
