Transformation of the Day: Jennifer lost 110 pounds. After the passing of her daughter’s father she was depressed and emotional eating took over. After a sobering wake up call, she realized how much she wanted to be the healthiest mom she could for her daughter and herself. Prayer, conditioning her mind and preparation are the things that made a huge impact on her finding success. Check out her journey.
I struggled with my weight all my life, from adolescents to adulthood. I was the “big girl” or “Big Jenn”, never just Jennifer. On October 14, 2014, my world was turned upside down when my daughter’s father was tragically killed. When he passed, I felt like apart of me went with him. I was depressed and didn’t have a care in the world, so I found comfort in eating. I ate all day long. I would fall asleep with plates in the bed. My weight actually reached its highest peak at this time at 330 pounds. Doing regular daily activities felt like chores. Just walking was a struggle.
In May of 2015, I was in a very eye opening situation. I took my daughter to a local fair. She wanted to get on the train and I finally agreed that she could ride the ride. I attempted to get on with her and couldn’t fit. The lap bar would not push down on my legs and stomach. I was crushed. My child suffered because I had given up on myself. That was the catalyst for change. June 22nd 2015 marked the start of my journey.
In 1 year, I lost total of 110 pounds. My starting weight was 330 pounds and I currently weigh 220 pounds. My height is 5’4″.
My daughter is my motivation and she keeps me going. Since the passing of her father, I am all she has. I want to be healthy, but most of all I want to live for her.
I changed my eating habits by planning ahead and meal prepping. I did meal prep and kept a food log to track everything I ate. The log allowed me to see where I was successful or where I had failed. I then gave up the very things I loved that weren’t helping me, like bread, rice, pasta and sweets. I increased my water intake and went on a high protein/low carb diet.
My work out routine consist of lots of cardio, 5 days a week. I have now incorporated light weights into my workouts to help me tone.
My advice to anyone wanting to lose weight is to pray and condition their mind first, because losing weight and staying consistent is a battle. I can’t stress enough about being prepared. Preparation doesn’t leave room for error when you have everything you need. Lastly, never give up, because nothing worth having comes easy.
