Transformation of the Day: Maxine lost over 100 pounds. She is a mother of 4 and grandmother of 3. Failed marriages, depression and serious medical issues led her to a place of unhappiness. She found the strength to take control of her health and never looked back. Check out her story.
I’m 45 years young, a single mother of 4 and a grandmother of 3. After 2 failed marriages, I guess I just gave up on life in general. I honestly made the decision that not everyone can win at this. I “accepted” that this is just how it would be as far as my weight and overall happiness was concerned. I fell into a depression and suffered from high blood pressure with consistent migraines. I also suffered from digestion issues as well, that included horrible heart burn. I was becoming sick more often and my high blood pressure issues were so bad that medication was not helping. After becoming very ill while on vacation Easter 2016 (after a day of non-stop eating), I had enough. That’s when decided to change and never looked back.
It’s 8 months in, I have already lost over 100 pounds naturally by relying heavily on my faith in God and making corrections to my diet. I also increased my daily activity by walking and working out at home or in the gym. We can learn to do better daily. This can really be done.
What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
As the weight starting coming off, that pushed me to continue. My digestion issues and joint pain started to get better as well.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped the late night eating and began eat every two hours. I cut down on sugar, added more fruits and veggies daily and drink A LOT of water with apple cider vinegar.
What did your workout routines look like?
I began by power walking daily the first month. I started doing 20 minutes at lunch, then I increased the time, adding an hour on the weekends. Later, I added working out in the gym 3-4 times a week. Now, I workout 5 days a week at work on my lunch hours by power walking/climbing stairs at work or going to the gym. I also walk 6-7 km on Saturday mornings weather permitting.
Starting weight/Current weight
I have weighed as high as 315 pounds. I seriously committed last year, I weighed 308 pounds. Current weight is 207 pounds. My height is 5’4 1/2″.
When did you start your journey?
Officially started April 2016
