Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Kimberly lost 42 pounds, and went from a size 22 to a size 10. Her transformation has also reduced her arthritis pain. She turned 50 years old in 2015 and wants to be an inspiration to women over 40. She shared with us about how she did it.

Hi, my name is Kimberley Crawford Sprowl and I would like to share my weight loss story. I started my fitness journey at the end of December 2014. I was going to be turning 50 years old in May of the following year (May 17 2015). I knew I needed to accomplish something major for myself to prove to myself that I could do it. I am inspired by so many of the amazing women over the age of 40 who have choose to take control of their health and make changes for the better. I keep going because I want to be one of those amazing women who are able to encourage others to be the best form of themselves that they can possibly be. I feel the only way I can do that is to be the best form of myself I can be.
I changed my eating habits by switching to a high protein, low carb eating lifestyle instead of the very high carb, high fat eating lifestyle I was on. I allow myself one cheat meal a week in which I allow myself to eat anything I want. I stick to that very strictly. So with the exception of that ONE meal a week, I don’t eat any refined sugars, breads or processed foods. My eating lifestyle is ever evolving as I learn more about my body and about what works and doesn’t work for me.
I had an amazing trainer who did a combination of cardio and strength training. I worked out with his Fitcamp group three days a week. We did some running after every workout, which was very challenging to me as I have severe arthritis and suffer from some joint pain. My weight loss and muscle strengthening has helped a lot with reducing my arthritis pain. Some days we danced and some days we did step aerobics. We also do some weight training. The workouts were ALWAYS challenging and fun.
My starting weight was 222 pounds. As of today, I weigh 180 pounds. I went from a size 22 to a size 10. I am 5′ 6″ tall. My transformation is ongoing as my goal size is 8. It has been a little over a year so far, time wise.
The best advice I have for anyone wanting to lose weight is to start immediately, get help and find a fitness buddy.
