Weight Loss Story: Corrie lost 60 pounds. She wanted to avoid diabetes and a life of taking daily medication. Inspired by a friend’s success , she started her weight loss journey in January by changing her eating habits and working out regularly. Here is what she shared with us…

My motivation to lose weight: I didn’t want to become a diabetic and live my life taking various medication. I was inspired by joining a weight loss challenge with my friend who has lost over 90 pounds.
I started using Vi shakes, drinking two a day. I had one for breakfast and one for dinner, eating a healthy lunch and healthy snacks in-between. I cut out all the sweets I was eating, such as candy, cakes, etc. I cut my starches and I started eating more green veggies as well. My workouts consist of lots of cardio and weight training. I walked 5 to 6 days a week.
I feel so much more energetic and I can do so much more with my 6 year old son. My starting weight was 235 pounds and my current weight is 175 pounds. I’m down 60 pounds since I started in January 2015. I’m 5’2″ (not so tall), so I had to make a change fast. My transformation took lots of dedication and hard work.
My advice to anyone trying to change and live a healthier life style is “Don’t let anybody tell you what you can’t and can do.” It didn’t take a day to gain so you won’t lose it in a day.

At the time, I wouldn’t eat breakfast, so when lunch came around I would end up eating everything that was in sight. I also ate when I was upset. In terms of eating out, Braums and Taco Casa were my downfall. I would order large nachos and fries. Each time I would say that it was my last time, but it was all lies because I continued doing it. I just did not care. Just with those two places alone, I had packed on 40 lbs.

I changed my eating habits by admitting I was a sugar addict. With that admission came the conscious decision to severely limit my sugar intake as well as my carb intake. My diet consisted mainly of proteins, fruits and vegetables. I also changed my portions by consistently only eating half of every meal. This would turn say a dinner plate into dinner and lunch for the next day.
