Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Angel lost 150 pounds. This proud mom of 4 was facing high blood pressure, high cholesterol and was at risk for diabetes at 300+ pounds. Portion control, regular exercise and cutting out foods that were not benefiting her, allowed her to create true lifestyle change. Here is what she shared with us…

I am a mother of 4 children, 1 girl who is 15 years old and three boys ages 14,10 and 7. I have struggled with weight loss and the stresses of life for a while. With me being only 5 feet tall even, I weighed 325 pounds. The doctor was telling me that I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and that I was at risk of being a diabetic. I had to make a change and I did!
No pills, no trainer. Just me and Google, lol. I decided to work hard, because I needed to change my lifestyle so that I can be here for my children and show them that you can live a healthy life . I didn’t receive any encouragement except for what I gave myself. I went from 325 pounds to 175 pounds in a year and a half! I am continuing my journey, because my goal weight is 150 lbs.
I changed my eating habits by cutting fast food and beef. I only eat chicken, turkey and fish. I learned to eat smaller portions, instead of one huge plate. I workout 5 days a week, sometimes twice a day if possible.
For others who are trying to lose weight, the advice I would give them is that it’s a lifestyle, not a diet. Be patient, stay focused and learn to motivate yourself, even when others don’t. There were times when it was cold and snow was on the ground, but I was at the gym by myself. Why? I looked at the greater outcome. I just feel and look better knowing I accomplished it on my own and without any chemicals. Thank you for the opportunity to let others know that it can be done naturally without any surgery.

Often, we consider a portion to be whatever seems reasonable to us personally, or whatever is arbitrarily placed in a package.

Eating nutritiously has long been a mainstay of remaining in optimal health. This is something we all know. However, as schedules have gotten busier, women have found that eating healthy is not always the timeliest option. After all, between professional responsibilities, hobbies, significant others, children and myriad extra-curricular activities – all that is to be done in a day can easily fill up 24 hours and then some. This means eating healthy may be at the bottom of the to-do list. Breakfast becomes a cup of coffee, lunch is had from the nearest drive-through and dinner is delivered or picked up on the way home. The good news: there are some healthier options other than take out and convenience food for women on the go who may be pressed for time when it comes to meals. Consider these healthy eating tips:
