Transformation of the Day: Tammie lost 47 pounds. She’s gone from a size 22 to a size 14 in a little over 4 months. Embracing a low carb lifestyle and regular exercise has brought her great results. Her motivation was a desire to age in a healthy way. Check out what she shared with us.

What was your motivation?
My motivation is not wanting to age while being unhealthy. I realized that I am not willing to suffer the consequences of unhealthy habits as I grow older.
How did you change your eating habits?
On October 21, 2016, I began a low carb lifestlye. For the first 14 days, I gave up sugar, bread, pasta, soda and just reduced my intake of carbohydrates in general. I stuck to 20 grams of carbs per day.
What you do in terms of working out?
I began walking 30 mins per day and used stairs only at work. I also did simple workout moves for 15-30 minutes, 3 times per week. My workouts were nothing special… just a few twists, squats and arm exercises at home.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 251 pounds. I currently weigh 204 pounds (as of 3/3/17). I’ve gone from a size 22 to a size 14 since I started in October. I am 5’4″ tall. No surgery, no pills, wraps used.
What advice would you give to other people who want to lose weight?
My advice to others who want to lose weight is to make lifestyle changes, instead of dieting. I would also tell them to find their “Why?”
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned on this journey?
The biggest lesson I learned is that I am in control of me. I’ve also learned that with simple eating habit changes and being active for 30 minutes per day, you can change your body.

My name is Lakeisha Thomas and I’m from Mississippi. I’m a 34 year old mother of 2 (Tia 14 yrs old and CJ 6 years old). I’m also a nurse aid and a production tech at Nissan. When I first started my weight lost journey I weighted 254 pounds. I was shocked. I never cared about my weight until one day when my doctor told me I was obese. So, I started working out at home in my bedroom. I went from a size 24 to a size 14. I want to enjoy my kids and see them grow up. Now, fitness is my life, my passion, my everything. This is why I love what I do, why I’m so passionate and why I share with others everything I do to stay fitt. I’m a #fitmom and I love my 2 children with all my heart. Instagram:

My Journey was not an easy one. I had so many trials going on at one time. My family was affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, In 2006 my son (who never been in trouble) was facing charges of 10 yrs. He was charged with Guilt by Association in Oklahoma City and I didn’t have the finances to get an attorney (He was cleared of all Charges). By 2008, I was going thru a divorce. So long story short ” Life Happened”.
