Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Shela lost 115 pounds. Not only did she lose the weight, but this proud mom has kept the weight off for 8 years. We applaud her for taking action to change her lifestyle. Here is what she shared with us…

After having my son in 2004, I gained over 100 pounds. I went from being this skinny little thing at the height of 5’5″ tall to weighing 315 pounds. In 2007, I was going through a divorce and didn’t realize I just wasn’t myself. Also, one day my son asked me to go down the slide with him while, we were playing in the park and I could not do that.
So, at the beginning of 2007, I decided to join LA Fitness. I changed my way of eating. I stopped drinking soda by replacing it with a lot of water. I also started to eat a lot of vegetables like kale, spinach, dandelion, broccoli and carrots. In the morning, before breakfast, I would hit the gym and do cardio for 30 minutes and lifting weight for 45 minutes. I would go to the gym six days a week. Afterward, my breakfast included wheat oatmeal with flaxseed. Two hours later I’d have mixed nuts or yogurt and then a salad and salmon for lunch. My dinner included vegetables, bake sweet potatoes and chicken. Keep in mind that I did not eat past 7 PM.
In 11 months, I lost a total of 115 pounds by changing the way I ate and doing a lot of exercising (Down 160 lbs from a high of 315 lbs with pregnancy weight). That brought my weight down to 155 pounds. 8 years later, I still managed to keep the weight off by staying committed to exercising and eating right. This is NOT a diet, but it is a life-changing event for me. Guess what? I did it without any PILLS or SURGERY.

I slowly started to work out and instantly cut my calorie intake. After the 1st week I had lost 5 pounds! This was so motivating to me and I just kept going. Little by little I became more determined as I saw more progress. I constantly did research on how to burn calories and eat right. Eventually, I had lost 110 pounds! It took me about 8 months. I was very focused! My weight loss success story was featured in Oxygen Magazine. I wanted to help others who had struggled with their weight as well, so I became a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. I love inspiring others with my story and hope to encourage anyone who feels like they cannot do it.

In America alone, roughly 30 million people have diabetes according to

Customized meal plans have given me my life back. I eat real food, such as lean meats like chicken breast and seafood. I also buy, cook and enjoy lots of veggies. No shakes, pills, etc on my journey. I have learned to meal prep, use portion control, and understand my body’s signals. This allows me to eat for the body I want.
